Salary: $125,000–$150,000 base salary; up to 10% of base salary bonus opportunity

Overview and Purpose:The Director of Human Resources serves as the primary lead for all human resource matters at Banneker Ventures. This individual is responsible for developing and implementing Human Resource strategies, policies, and programs aligned with the Company’s goals. This role oversees all aspects of human capital management, including talent acquisition, employee relations, payroll, benefits, compliance, performance management, and organizational development. The role ensures legal compliance, champions company culture, and oversees all core human resource (“HR”) functions.Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives that support organizational goals, including workforce planning, talent management, and succession planning.
  • Policy Development : Draft, update, and enforce HR policies and the employee handbook to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and industry best practices.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Oversee recruitment efforts, from drafting job descriptions to screening applicants, to scheduling interviews, to coordinating background checks and reference verifications to final offers. Develop strategies to attract and retain top talent. Ensure an efficient and welcoming onboarding process.
  • Payroll Coordination : Gather, verify, and process payroll data. Ensure timely and accurate payroll submission in collaboration with finance or payroll vendors.
  • Performance Management: Implement and maintain performance review processes, coach managers on feedback and evaluations, and provide guidance on improvement plans and professional development opportunities.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee concerns, investigations, mediating disputes and facilitating effective communication between staff and management. Foster a positive and inclusive company culture.
  • Compliance: Ensure the company complies with all employment laws, safety regulations, and union requirements (if applicable). Maintain all HR records and documentation accurately and confidentially.
  • Benefits & Compensation: Design and administer competitive compensation and benefits packages. Collaborate with brokers and vendors, manage open enrollment, and educate employees on available programs.
  • Training & Development: Identify skill gaps and coordinate training initiatives. Develop and implement training and development initiatives to support staff growth and compliance through workshops, mentorship, and learning programs.
  • Coordinate and oversee the Company’s internship program.
  • Employee Records : Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and organized HR files, both digital and hardcopy. Process changes in employment status, benefits, and compensation.
  • Benefits Administration : Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and questions. Liaise with benefits providers and support open enrollment logistics.
  • HR Technology : Implement and manage ADP Workforce HR information systems (HRIS), fully leveraging technology for efficiency in recruiting, onboarding, training, payroll, benefits administration, and record keeping.
  • Reporting & Analytics : Track and analyze HR metrics such as turnover, retention, and hiring statistics. Present insights and recommendations to leadership.
  • Employee Support : Serve as a resource for employees on HR-related questions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree or HR certification preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in real estate development, construction, or a related industry.
  • Deep knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with ADP HR/Payroll platforms strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to relate effectively to people at all levels in the organization
  • Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution, change management, and employee engagement
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred
